Marine Cable Installation & Handling

1. Minimum Bending Radius

2. Side Wall Pressure to Marine Cable

Maximum permissible side wall pressure to the marine cable at bending point during installation is 500kgf/m.
Side wall pressure to cable = pulling tension(kgf) / Bending Radius(m) = T/R

3. Maximum Permissible Pulling Tension (T)

T = 7×(NO. of cores) × (cross-section area of copper conductor)

4. Cable Drum Handling

Always handle the drum with care. It is recommended that heavy drums are lifted by a forklift or a crane when being removed from the vehicle. It must take care when lowering the drum to an upright position on their flanges.
